Welcome to the 6th Annual Forum Istanbul Conference that we are determined to carry on, with your support, until the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, 2023.
Every passing year makes it very clear how important it is to have a “Centennial Vision” in terms of creating hope and momentum.
There are two main topics, this year, that we would like to focus on:
The priority will be given to the sustainability of the policies and strategies of the last five years of economic and political stability period that brought about the current achievements. The ways and means of this sustainability are being searched by all segments of the society.
That is why number one discussion topic of our conference this year will be to investigate and try to find new and innovative policy options for growth, industrialization, integration and convergence until the year 2023.
On the other hand, it will not be difficult to forecast that a kind of Turkey, which will succeed to secure a sustainable growth, will not only need more energy but will be depending more and more on imported energy.
Aside from the global dimensions, particularly from our regional perspective, the strategic importance and value of east-west energy corridor can not be denied. With her geography and strategic positioning, Turkey offers a very valuable energy supply security through being an energy terminal or an energy bridge or an energy corridor. It is important to remember that this is a region which is the home for ¾ of the world oil and gas reserves and Turkey happens to be right in the middle of it.
To conclude, we intend to discuss and exchange views during the next two days, the national and global energy policies, their achievements and problems and particularly their implications on Turkey’s multidimensional future road map.
