Mr. Zhao Xiang is the Vice President of Operaions at COVEC, China Overseas Engineering Group Co. Ltd. COVEC, formerly an enterprise under P.R. China’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), has now joined China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC), maintaining its main business line of international project contracting. In addition to their strength in this field, COVEC has pooled a large number of professionals highly skilled in international business and modern business management, with multi-language capability and rich field experience, or their operations in China-financed foreign-aid projects, investment in overseas businesses, leasing business of large engineering equipment and machinery, overseas labour service and import/export business, possessing wide range of contacts and resources for business cooperation at home and abroad. Having established good credibility and fame in international contract business, COVEC has been listed by the US magazine Engineering News Records as one of the 225 top international contractors for years running starting from the mid-1990s. In the regional markets of West Africa, Southeast Africa, South Pacific and Southeast Asia, COVEC is recognized as a well-known brand name in international contract business.
Being the first Chinese enterprise to step into the fields of international contract business, industrial investment and overseas labour service, COVEC has undertaken over 1,000 large and medium-sized projects in various regions of the world through fierce competition over the past 30 years, winning an accumulated USD 2.6 billion worth of contracts, USD 2.2 billion in turnover, USD 600,000,000 in import and export business. COVEC has also developed many infrastructure projects for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Mr. Xiang has graduated as a Civil Engineer from the Northern Jiaotong University in 1986.
