ŞEFİK BİRKİYE

Şefik Birkiye has completed his degree in architecture in Brussels, Belgium. Atelier D'Art Urbain, which he has founded in 1979, has undertaken several projects in Europe and different countries worldwide, thus being the largest architectural establishment of Belgium since 1994. Mr. Birkiye has been awarded for his design for the Istanbul Klassis Hotel when he was only 29 years old, has continued winning several architectural competitions, and his designs have been successfully implemented.
 
Having worked on the design and construction of several hotel buildings, shopping malls, bank plazas and urban regeneration projects for the European Union, Mr. Birkiye has also cofounded Vizzion Europe, a real estate project development, finance and management company with experts in the real estate management industry, to be able to finance his award winning projects. Although a rare practice, he has successfully implemented this system, and manages his investments in Turkey via AAU Architects, a company he has set up in 2005. One of the current projects of the company is their recent bid and project for the Haydarpaşa Port in Istanbul.
