Turkey’s Roadmap is Drawn in Forum IstanbulWith the title “Forming Tomorrow - Target 2023” Forum Istanbul which transported the search of “Turkey’s future roadmap in a rapidly changing world” to the agenda, evaluated strategies concerning development and industrialization needs that will shall take place after the elections in its first day.
Turkey’s energy and agricultural policies were discussed in Forum Istanbul where The Report of Developmental Strategy is explained. The session, which Europe’s Future is discussed by the representatives of Europe’s biggest media companies, took great attention.
The sixth big meeting of Forum Istanbul which aggregated Turkey’s and the world’s front politicians, scientists, bureaucrats, leaders of business and culture has started in Swissotel. A group of 115 people which 35 of them are foreigners, shall engage in Forum Istanbul that is one of the most significant conferences of Turkey,
In Forum Istanbul where the need of industrialization and the need for development after the elections are of major importance, strategies concerning these subjects were observed in provided sessions. In the first day of Forum Istanbul, in order to keep the provided stability of economic policies; topics such as industrial policies, sectoral evaluations, exportation, energy, integration with the EU and the world, were discussed.
Development Strategy Report Is Explained
In Forum Istanbul that is the flag bearer of 2023 Turkey Vision action, the first session subject was “A Novel Long Term Development Strategy for Turkey as the Global Economy Shifts Gears” under the main title “Turkey’s future roadmap in a rapidly changing world”. At the introduction of the session economist Yusuf Işık explained the “Report of Developmental Strategy”. One of the interesting sessions of the first day was the one with the title of “Europe’s Future and the Public Opinion” which TÜSİAD Representative to the EU Bahadır Kaleağası presided. “The Future of Europe” was elaborated by the journalists of the world’s leading media companies. In the session which Hürriyet-CNN Türk Brussels Representative Zeynel participated in, Sergio Cantone from Euronews, Manfred Ertel from Der Spiegel, Gisela Gauggel-Robinson, the Head of Communication, DG Enlargement, European Commission and Pierre Rousselin from Le Figaro shared their thought with the participants in Forum Istanbul.
The Position of Turkey in Global Energy System?
The session with the title of “Turkey’s Future Orientation in the Rapidly Changing Global Energy System” was managed by Mehmet Öğütçü, the Vice President of Forum Istanbul. In the session, Mehmet Ali Berkman, CEO of Akkök; Murat Sungur Bursa, CEO of Zorlu Enerji Group of Companies; Osman Saim Dinç, General Manager of ÇalıkEnerji; André Mernier, Secretary General of Energy Charter Secretariat; Cornelia Meyer, Chairman of British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce; Necdet Pamir, General Coordinator of ASAM and Konstantin Simonov, Director General of Russia Energy Security Fund spoke.
How Can Turkey Have the New Opportunities in Agriculture?
What Turkey should do in order to have opportunities in the the world markets of agriculture and food was discussed in the session entitled as “Growing Constraints in the World Agriculture and Food Markets: How Should Turkey Respond to the New Challenges?”. The participants were; Jonathan Bell, ex-CEO of UK Food Standards Agency; Ahjaz Khan, General Manager of Cadbury Kent; Hasan Surözü, Agriculture Advisor of Turkish Exporters Assembly; Serpil Timuray, General Manager of Danone Tikveşli; Tahsin Tokgöz, Member of the Board of Hazelnut Promotion Group and Ekrem Yüce, General Manager of Çaykur.
The last session of the day was entitled as “Turkey and EU Relations Under the German Presidency of the Council. The moderator of the session was Prof. Dr. Gül Turan from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics. At the session the speech participants were, Dr. Fritz Schaumann, President of German Culture Foundation; Dr. Christina Weiss, Germany; Prof. Dr. Faruk Şen, Director of Foundation of Center for Studies on Turkey; Ahmet Aktaş from Efe Fırat Group of Companies and Dieter Schenk, Director of Turkon Holding.
